Södra’s Chairman, Lena Ek, has been appointed as a Coordinator for the European Spallation Source (ESS), one of the largest and highest-priority research infrastructure projects in Europe.

Starting on 1 December 2016, Lena Ek will assist the Government Offices of Sweden in all work related to ESS. The assignment includes coordination of Swedish activities intended to strengthen cooperation between ESS, the country’s colleges and universities, and the business community.

“I look forward to building networks and promoting cooperation in my role as Coordinator. ESS will mean a great deal when it comes to the forest, steelmaking and new materials,” said Lena Ek.

“Just as I did during my previous assignment as Honorary Ambassador for Sweden’s candidacy for the UN Security Council, I will continue to devote my full energy to my role as Chairman of Södra.”
