Sustainability is a central part of Södra's strategy and business model, making it an important issue for us. EPDs provide us with valuable information about which parts of our manufacturing process have the greatest environmental impact, so that we can work to reduce it.
Our customers require EPDs for building climate declarations, making them essential in our operations. Additionally, EPDs can be a competitive advantage, both through their existence and if we have a lower environmental impact than our competitors.
Through EPDs, we are transparent about our environmental impact, enabling comparisons both for us and others. EPDs have a life cycle perspective, which means we gain knowledge about a product's environmental impact throughout the entire value chain.

Facts about EPD - Environmental Product Declaration
An EPD is an environmental product declaration, where the product's environmental impact is summarised in a concise, standardised document. An EPD contains the results of the life cycle analysis plus other important information about the product. The declaration is reviewed by an independent third party and always follows a standard. This makes it easy to compare the climate impact between different materials and components with the same function. Thus, it becomes easier to choose sustainable alternatives and make a significant difference for the climate.
