What is OnceMore?
OnceMore is a high-quaility dissolving pulp made of blended textile waste and wood from sustainably managed Swedish forests. It is the world’s first large-scale process for recycling blended fabrics and one solution to circularity for MMCF products. OnceMore® is a part of Södra, Sweden’s largest forest owners’ association, which has a world leading industry that processes forest raw material into renewable products.
In 2019, Södra introduced OnceMore®, which has since evolved into the world's first large-scale process for recycling mixed textiles and has become a key player in the advancement of next-generation materials. By 2022, OnceMore® achieved a significant milestone, producing textile pulp with 20 percent textile waste, a notable increase from the initial 3 percent in 2019. The ambitious goal is to reach 50 percent textile waste. Our inaugural test took place in April 2019, utilizing just 500 kg of pulp, followed by the completion of the first large-scale test in September, which involved 19 tonnes of pulp. This test yielded successful, high-quality results, leading to the first volumes of OnceMore pulp being sold in the market. Today, the mill in Mörrum has the capacity to produce 6,000 tons of OnceMore pulp per year, with the goal to increase to 60,000 tons. But it all starts with the demand!
