Cross-laminated timber
Stable and robust building elements
Our cross-laminated timber CLT is made of layers of planed wood that have been finger-jointed and glued together into panels using polyurethane glue (PUR). The layers are arranged perpendicular to each other, which gives CLT its impressive solidity. In the CLT manufacturing process, we use a single large block, which is then processed into smaller elements. Then, with the help of modern CNC technology, we can create precision-cut building elements which are assembled in our factory and customised as desired.
Ensuring that building elements fit perfectly and preparing in advance to accommodate wiring and piping, means that construction time can be significantly reduced. Utilising digital models based on the architect's drawings and fully-computerised manufacturing, Södra can provide highly-efficient building elements. Thanks to this extreme precision, the distance between your vision and the finished building frame has never been shorter.
Specification
Our CLT is manufactured using FSC/PEFC-classified raw materials and is type-approved for the Swedish market. It consists of three to seven layers of construction-grade spruce and pine, depending on requirements. Board dimensions and design are dictated by function – i.e. floor, ceiling, supporting or separating wall. Each finished element can be up to 3,5 metres in height and 16 metres in length.
